DGM USA CHICAGO handles the Dangerous Goods for the IZOD Indy Car Series to Sao Paulo, Brazil !
The IZOD IndyCar Series makes its debut in South America with its inaugural event on the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil on Sunday, March 14 @ 10:30 am (CST) and... DGM USA Chicago helped make it possible!
“I’m so thrilled to be a part of this,” said Alan Schoen. “Getting the visibility of being part of an important job like this... especially one as cool as this - could be important to our future.” DB Schenker is the Indy Racing League’s (IRL) Freight Logistics sponsor and they handled everything needed for the Sao Paulo race. That’s 400,000 total pounds carried by two Atlas Air 747-400F cargo planes for the 5,000-plus-mile ride between two continents.
DGM USA Chicago was hired to handle the Dangerous Goods (DG).
Alicia Valle, Regulatory Specialist, was on site to meet with the Racing Teams as they brought their cars, tool boxes and gear in for DG Classification at the staging area set up at the Indianapolis Airport.
It was an interesting and challenging job, but there wasa lot to do, said Alicia. Once classification was complete for the 44 cars and 13 racing teams, Alicia packed, labeled and prepared the Documentation for all of the DG, which included engines, aerosols, batteries, and a lot of consumer commodities.
Most people don’t think of the hazmat associated with racing, but there are a lot of details to be handled for these cars to be shipped safely,” explained Alan.
